The Curious One features a Common Raven I photographed at Crescent City Harbor in Northern California. I watched this raven exploring the rocks at the water’s edge, admiring the curious look in its eye, the iridescent sheen of its feathers, and its seeming indifference to the gulls swooping overhead.
I combined my original wildlife photography with a handmade gel plate monoprint, creating a richly textured portrait that captures this remarkable bird’s character.
