Face to Face features a young raccoon I encountered along the southern Oregon coast. Several youngsters had emerged from the dense roadside vegetation, but one curious little face caught my attention. It paused just long enough for me to photograph its bright eyes and inquisitive expression. There was something wonderfully endearing about this brief encounter—a small moment of connection with a wild animal going about its day.
Created from my original wildlife photograph and combined with cedar branches and handmade gel plate monoprint textures, this mixed-media artwork captures the raccoon’s playful curiosity and brings a touch of woodland magic to the portrait.
