After Dark is an original Northern Saw-whet Owl greeting card based on a photograph I took at a PERCH Wildlife Education event at the Environmental Learning Center in Oregon City. Small enough to perch on his handler's index finger, he was nevertheless a fierce little predator who needed to be handled with care. His tiny size and intense gaze inspired me to imagine him hunting at night in an apple orchard—the fruit emphasizing just how small he really was. My photograph became the starting point for this illustrated nighttime portrait.
5 x 7-inch folded greeting card. Blank inside. Printed on substantial 230 gsm, bright white matte card stock in my Oregon City, Oregon home studio using professional-quality inks. Each card is paired with a bright white envelope and packaged together in a clear protective sleeve.
